This program was
originally written so my wife and I could play strategy games on our couch / TV without the need for a keyboard. It seemed like there was always one function in every game that required a keyboard and provided no way to map that to a mouse button. With Couch Mouse, it's easy to map the two thumb buttons to the SHIFT or CONTROL keys, and map the wheel button or wheel tilt to other keyboard buttons.
Mice with more than two thumb buttons generally cannot be mapped with third-party tools like Couch Mouse, and require using the software that came with the mouse to map additional buttons.
Eventually, we added a small wireless number pad to our couch gaming setup, and so I added Keyboard remapping to Couch Mouse as well.
